Dislike: hand sewing. (I never got the hang of thimbles, so...)
Dislike more: hand sewing with self-threading needles. (Pointier eyes, and the thread falls out)
Dislike most: hand sewing with self-threading needles through several layers, such that the eye of the needle ends up getting tangled in the fabric and practically has to be cut out.

Hmm. I'll have to finish everything Tuesday night, if I'm to have any time for cleaning (hah!) on Thursday. But I cling to the belief that It Will All Get Done, because it always does.

Remind me not to do costumes with braided cord. So hard to sew!

Nevertheless, I must say, I look kinda fabulous. Current progress: coat and lining sewn together, including the tails, (tails!). One cuff sewn on, one more to go, then the collar, fasteners, and the pants. I am, amaingly, on schedule, even though it is a tight schedule.

Foot is considerably improved from yesterday, though still stiff, painful, and a little swollen.

Each piece of this skirt is large enough that I can wrap it around myself like a cross between a bath towel and a floor-length evening dress.

I wasn't kidding when I said the pieces were as large as my kitchen floor )

Done with the bodice--almost. Just gotta put on the hooks & eyes, and then a big giant bow.

And, um, it's a little tight. Oh dear. It's beyond fixing, so I can only hope it'll be all right regardless. It's not like people need to breathe, or anything.

I am not reading the latest Harry Potter, no. I want to. I am very patiently waiting for my sister to finish it because it's wasteful to buy an extra copy when I'll be reading it in a week or two anyway.

Luckily, I have thus far been able to avoid spoilers.

We start with ten yars of red-pink silk, some lining, some interfacing... (I ordered so much silk, they sent it all in a roll!)

I'm really having problems getting screencaps to work, so Meaghan--you'll just have to trust me until I can get you some CD-Rs.
