(Resuming my progress to Lothlorien, abandoned after getting sick and having to unpack library boxes and just plain not getting a round tuit).

Posting this in lieu of actually making progress, since they changed the gym security codes and I can't get in.
I do have a bike. I am disinclined to haul my bike up a flight of stairs this morning.

Alas! Everyone is trying to dry their clothes at the same time as I am! I think that I will go to the ren faire in sweatpants if I don't manage to put my clothes in the dryer this time.

Total miles: 29. Crossed a small stream. Now, more of that rough and barren country.

And my iPod's battery died. If only it were as simple as 'send it back to get a new one'-- I have that gnawing lust for new technology, and the old iPod is smeared with gluey fingerprints from when I worked in the preservation department. So I'm not sure if I want to spend the money to have it refurbished if that means I'm going to be stuck with it for the next three years... And on the other hand, it seemed sensible to spend that kind of money on a music player when I was doing manual labor for four hours a day, and it seems far more frivolous when it's just to entertain me for 30-60 minutes a day while I work out, especially since there is a TV in the gym room. BUT! I use the iPod to drown out the TV when other people turn the channel to Fox News. And pretty much everything that's on TV at seven in the morning makes me want to launch into a rant against the media.

(A girl came up to me after storytime to say, "I like princesses." I did not launch into a critique of the whole princess thing. I am impressed at my own self-restraint.)

As usual, it's a matter of waiting for payday and paying my bills and realizing I have no money left over so I'm not going to buy the frivolous thing that I was going to buy.

Okay, wait... the iPod service page says they'll give you a replacement iPod. Which is presumably an iPod without gluey fingerprints all over it. Well, lust-for-shiny-things aside, that solves my problem, doesn't it?
