I have secured: 1 week annual leave in the middle of April. If the Cherry Blossom Forecast is correct, I will miss the cherry blossoms. But perhaps it will be wrong!

And now I have less than one month to plan my Japanese vacation.

One week is not a lot of time to do things. My initial plan, when I was thinking I'd go for two weeks in October, was to spend a lot of time walking around in the country -- but if you only have a week it almost makes more sense to stay in Tokyo and not spend your whole vacation on trains. And, I have never seen Harajuku, I have never seen Akihabara, and it would be pretty hard for me to get bored by staying in Tokyo for a week.

I still have to find a really pretty onsen somewhere.

A week is actually just about right for me. After that tourist fatigue sets in and it's all diminishing returns.

That trip to Gunma could be done in a day, you know. Or even an overnighter. And they have onsen, but there are also onsen near Tokyo itself.

I'm sure a week will be enough, and I'm just overestimating how much time I'll lose to jetlag.

I think I have a certain amount of bias left from living in Nagasaki, that it'll take me a whole day to get anywhere. But Tokyo is a lot more convenient to things.
