I am aware that I'm asking the impossible, but a Merlin that had more in common with actual medieval England than with Dawson's Creek would be a great deal more interesting.

That's pretty much why I don't watch it.

For some reason I find it utterly compelling even though it is ahistorical and badly written and has really weird bothersome class dynamics.

Now I understand why I see posts every single week ranting about the fail of the latest episode of Supernatural and yet they keep watching it.
