I'm just happy to get snow. The schools are closed; the policy of the libraries is not to close unless pretty much everybody calls to say in "Are you nuts, I'm not driving in that."

Must watch TV to determine whether I am nuts or am driving in that. If it's ice and freezing rain, that's one thing, but I think I can handle half an inch of snow.

(Unfortunately, no one else can, and therein may lie the problem).
(OTOH, Cary IS the Containment Area for Relocated Yankees, and if anyone should know how to drive in snow...)

Depends on the Yankee. If they live in an area where they're buried under six feet of snow six months outta the year, yeah, they can drive in snow. If for most of the year they're clear of it, they get almost as stupid as Southerners about driving when the flakes start falling. After a day or two of that, though, they adjust to it faster.

Of course it helps that they cheat and salt the roads, something the South has yet to master. Then again, it makes no sense to keep a salt truck around when you're lucky to see three inches of snow all winter.

They might be getting a little smarter here. They salted the most major of roads--but there have already been 15 or 20 collisions regardless.

Yankees are just as dumb as anyone else about driving in new rain, too. You know how when it just starts raining, it mixes with the oil slicks on the roads? Yeah, like that.
