115.5 miles. We pass through the city of Towada, birthplace of (most of the members of) J-rock group Supercar, home of many hot springs and Pony Land. They have a museum and you can ride ponies.
Continuing on highway 4 over the Oirase river...

From [livejournal.com profile] flemmings:

1) I got a raise! This wasn't a surprise thing, this was a very bureaucratic procedural thing, complete with e-mail about how your percentage raise correlates to your evaluation score, but still, I can be happy about that.
2) I keep rediscovering songs that I've had for a while but just fell hard for - most recently Shiina Ringo's "Odaiji ni."
3) I have two committee meetings this week. Personally, I like meetings because pretty much all the people who work in the library system are nice and awesome and I like to see them; and also, it gets me away from the desk. I am not opposed to being at the desk, I'm just opposed to 40 hours a week at the desk.
4) We are going to have a security officer talk sternly to B., who snapped my last straw by starting a screaming fight in the library. Which sounds bad, but it's a bit of a relief to have behavior so clearly over-the-line that you can do something about it, rather than a long simmering mess of attitude and broken rules.
5) I am going to New York! And I reserve the right to be excited about it even if it's not for seven weeks yet.
6) I finished my Princess Tutu DVD. It's cracktastic.
7) I am walking again, and biking again, and fantasizing about the kind of bike I wish I had. That is more entertaining than it has any right to be. (It's such a pity that loaded touring is out of fashion, because the kind of bike I want hardly exists--Trek makes women-specific frames to accommodate my puny T-rex arms, but the only one I really like as a touring bike--even if I change out the gears--is way too pricy for me.)
8) I am telling myself stories. Including one that's really the opposite of what I should be doing right now, but I have to admit I like it.
9) My library books have cool photos of all this nifty Taisho historical stuff, even if they are blurry and black and white.
10) Someday I will fly up to Aomori and go to all the little temples and tourist-traps that I am reading about now.
