Leaving tomorrow!
I have the whole first season of Being Human on my iPod. I have a watch that has already been reset to Tokyo time, where it's noon right now. I have a notebook meticulously detailing directions to the places I want to eat, visit, or shop. I have my earplugs in my cute pencil case. I am, in short, READY.
And I have no idea whether I'm going to post or not for the next week, though I've located the internet cafe nearest my hotel and I'm pretty sure I'll be checking my email at least.
In a moment of pique at the laundromat (where the laundry machine charged me and then didn't work, and then a vending machine ate my dollar) I thought, "Nothing works here and no one cares." That isn't true, but right now I think I could use the efficiency and politeness of the Japanese tourism industry.
