It's done, it's done! Woo-hoo!
The first draft of one of the two texts I need to translate for the Shizuoka translation contest. There were too many bits I got stuck on for me to think that even a second draft will be very good, necessarily, but I'm just trying to finish it this year after two or three years in a row of getting maybe half a page done.
In the spirit of using this icon ironically--I locked myself out of my car last night, for the first time. My giant rubber Wolfwood keychain, which has up till now protected me by virtue of being too big to lose, finally failed me. Luckily my mother insisted that I get AAA. ...And I realized that what keeps me cool in crises, when I manage to do so, is the curiosity of seeing how things work that I haven't seen before. Like medical equipment, and the stuff people use to break into cars. I may not have the sort of writer's mind that easily transmutes angst into art, but at least I've got the sort of writer's mind that likes to know how things work!
