I finished a whole book in Spanish! And it had two hundred whole pages in it! I, uh, skimmed over the pages where it talked about the cooking a little (my dictionary wasn't too strong on food words; and then I dropped it in the bath).

(I shall note that I had been studying Japanese for four years before I finished a novel in that, but it would have been sooner if Norwegian Wood hadn't reminded me so much of my own life that I was too depressed to finish it. That's high school for you.)

So I need to find something new... I tried Isabel Allende's YA series, but the mother was dying of cancer, and I'm sick of YA books where the mother's dying of cancer. And the library doesn't have her new book about Zorro yet.

I can't get my driver's license after all. I'd need to pay $500 a year for non-owner's insurance even if I never drive. It's the stupid, stupid law.
