owlectomyThe apartment is heated by hot water pipes that run through my roommate's bedroom, and the kitchen, but not my room. They happen to make the room Way Too Hot. My room, on the other hand, has mostly been pleasantly cool.
Except that, in response to her room being Way Too Hot, my roommate has taken to leaving her window open all day. Which brings my room down from Pleasantly Cool to I'd Better Put On Another Sweater.
Well-- I got an electric blanket the last time I lived in a significantly underheated apartment, so it's not a huge problem. But in the future I will be a lot more careful about the vagaries of weird old buildings.

31/12/09 14:01 (UTC)Last year I started sleeping w/a hot water bottle at my feet b/c our house was so cold. It made me feel like Laura Ingalls Wilder except it wasn't a brick. I am hoping this winter will feel somewhat warmer (whether b/c I've toughened up or we're paying more for the heat or what).
