I know that it's improbable that I'm truly a magnet for ridiculous injuries and petty embarrassments, but when I manage to squirt soap in my eye the very day that I'm supposed to shoot my author photo, it sure feels like I am.

It's been an hour and I'm still in a lot of pain, but this isn't the kind of thing you're supposed to see the ER for, is it?

If you did go to the ER, they would have you flush your eye with water for 30 minutes, I'm guessing. You can do that on your own, for a shorter time, and see if it helps.

Can you reschedule the photo shoot?

I've been trying to flush it out. It doesn't seem like it's helping much.

I've rescheduled to Sunday, so I can just hope it's better by then.
