17/12/08 21:08I don't know if there's any single best thing about writing a novel called "Totally Sweet Ninja Death Squad." But the hilarity of getting complimented on its "subtlety" or "symbolism" is WAY up there.
Actually, in all seriousness, I think I may have put the sillier elements in partially out of defensiveness -- it has a musical about ninjas in it, so you can't take it seriously enough to criticize it! I always feel naked and exposed when people read my writing, but so much more so when it's actually semi-realistic rather than fantasy.

18/12/08 12:33 (UTC)Heck, I will probably do it at Indigo, the downtown Chapters, and the West Island Chapters just to get that much more mileage out of it. And maybe at my local little Coles, just to confuse them. (Which actually has a surprisingly decent YA section for such a tiny place.)
