Note to self: one does not glibly say, "Oh, I'll just do it freeform! And then put a cute lacy stitch in!" before checking the difficulty level of a pattern.

On the plus side, I have learned the magic loop technique for knitting with circular needles. I like my double-pointed needles, but I do think this will be more convenient on the train.

Magic loop is awesome. Once I learned that technique, I've never gone back to DPNs.
