owlectomyI wasn't going to do a costume for WisCon. And then I was reading Kelly Link's Magic For Beginners:
Eeeee. Plus I have a Thing for foxes. And on a level just slightly deeper than that "eeee," Link evokes in such a pitch-perfect way the intensity of devotion you can have for certain shows when you're fifteen years old...
Jeremy is also passionately addicted to a television show in which a renegade librarian and magician named Fox is trying to save her world from thieves, murderers, cabalists, and pirates...
You always know Fox by her costume (the too-small green T-shirt, the long, full skirts she wears to hide her tail), by her dramatic hand gestures and body language, by the soft, breathy-squeaky voice the actors use when they are Fox. Fox is funny, dangerous, bad-tempered, flirtatious, greedy, untidy, accident-prone, graceful, and has a mysterious past.
