I am going to be so terribly busy.

Since I have the apt. till February, maybe I needn't be all a-flurry about packing boxes and taking books to the used bookstore; in fact, I'm not, at all, but that's not a good thing! I have to get back in that mindset before I left Japan, of "it's less trouble to replace it than to take it with you." If I rent a U-haul, though, I actually CAN probably afford to take a bunch of stuff with me; it's just that I won't have room for it in whatever closet I end up renting.

Also, I have New Year's Dinner to plan. (Ratatouille and maybe a cheese platter, for the year of the rat/mouse; then a mix of vegetarian Japanese dishes, almost certainly sushi salad and egg sushi...)

So I should probably get on it, then.

What neighborhoods are you planning to look in? (if you're @ that stage yet) Given where you'll be working, I'm guessing apartments nearby (if that's where you want to move) will be bigger & cheaper than maybe you feared? (Altho' yeah, yeah, I know, compared to everywhere else but San Francisco... ;)

Altho' I agree of course that it's good to pare down anyway when moving!!

Good luck!

East Williamsburg and Bushwick, I think (because they're on the L); Canarsie is pretty cheap but I need to check out the neighborhood; maybe Flatbush, because there's a bus that goes to the library. There are definitely some pretty affordable options, considering that I'll be able to get rid of my car and make up the difference that way.

I hear that rents are going up fairly fast in Bushwick, but I don't know from what to what. I don't know much about Flatbush, but if you lived there you could join the co-op! And I have no idea what Canarsie's like, so I'll be interested in hearing your impressions if you go check it out.

Exciting! Stressful, I know, too... but... yay!
