First instance of me playing guitar in public: "Down By The Bay" to four enthusiastic elementary-age kids and one creepy "why are you ALWAYS at the library" guy. As part of a music program wherein we did:
- a storybook,
- five-minute "the physics of music" (they were surprisingly impressed that you could make the sound of a guitar string higher by shortening the string, and make the sound of a glass soda bottle higher by adding water),
- five-minute "the instruments of the orchestra,"
- a country dance on the recorder,
- letting the kids mess around with both guitar and recorder,
- making shakers out of paper plates and dry beans.
I am full of awwww.
