Well, at any rate, I have a setting. And a need to do a metric ton of research. But since I am now sort of okay with pre-war Japanese orthography, and since I am learning a ton of the kanji I really should know by now, I might be able to handle that research. (Not that I should be doing my overachiever thing and pushing myself to do primary research; the guy who wrote Samurai Shortstop doesn't speak any Japanese, and everyone was praising how meticulously researched the book was, and they were right. Mostly.)
This is how I always avoid working on the current book.
