owlectomyLast weekend I was astonished to find that my debit card had vanished from my car. This is (a) in front of a Best Buy and (b) a couple days after I heard a news report about a local guy stealing debit cards from people's cars to buy electronic stuff.
So I reported it stolen, feeling certain that it would turn up as soon as I did so, which turned out to be the case. And because I was too lazy to update my address in my bank records, they're sending my new card to my mom's place. "OK," I thought. "I'll use credit for now, and swing by before I go to NYC to pick up the card." (Because of some semi-complicated logistical stuff, I'm supposed to park there and take a taxi to the airport).
She's leaving to go north before me--to scout out apartments for Littlest Sister and help my grandmother move--and...she stopped the mail. Ha, ha. So much for that plan.
Hopefully the bank will give me a temporary card, or at least some cash.
