Number of copies of Harry Potter 7 the library is ordering: 450.
My place on the list: 64.
What this means: Nyah nyah, I get it July 21 without spending $35 or waiting in line!

Holy shit. I mean, I can understand the insane demand there may be this summer, but in 5 to 10 years when the fervor has died down a bit, what are they going to do with 450 copies!?

This year a LOT of copies of Half-Blood Prince went to the booksale.

We do have 18 branches, so it's not as if one library is going to bear all the burden; and high-demand titles and children's books get "lost" at higher-than-average rates, so I don't expect that we'll still have 450 by the time demand dies down.

But I don't necessarily agree with buying multiple hundreds of copies of popular titles, even when it does happen to work out to my advantage.
