-Children of Men: Recommended but for one moment near the end when I was rolling my eyes, "Gee, could you make the symbolism A LITTLE MORE OBVIOUS PLEASE? I think there are some thirteen-year-olds in the back who didn't get it." A dystopia that feels very bleak and also very real.

-Pan's Labyrinth: Highly recommended except for the squeamish. Lots to chew on-- the fae requirement of absolute obedience vis-a-vis the fascist requirement of absolute obedience. The visual imagination in the fantasy sequences is astonishing.

-Blood and Chocolate: I am so disappointed that everyone says it is awful! I would almost go see it, awful as people say it is, but I've already seen two whole movies this month, and that's quite enough.
