The crueler pleasures of librarianship

I am weeding the lonely and unloved books that have never once been checked out in the last three years.

Among them is Bill Bennett's "The Book of Virtues," which contains such marvelous bits of timeless wisdom as:

Frisky as a lambkin,
Busy as a bee--
That's the kind of little girl
People like to see.

Modest as a violet,
As a rosebud sweet--
That's the kind of little girl
People like to meet.

To weed such books gives me joy.
