Last month, when I started working here, we had computers called Internet 1, Internet 2, PC 1, PC 2 (among others). This confused a lot of people, and they would try to get on Internet 1 when their reservation was for PC 1. I spent half my time straightening this out.
Thus, to alleviate the confusion, my boss renamed PC 1 and PC 2 to 1-A and 2-A.
Now, instead of spending my time sorting out the difference between 1 and 1, I spend half my time sorting out the difference between 1 and 1-A.
I am not sure if I can have them renamed to A and B, or 10 and 11, or something. But it might help.
*
Research, part 2: I thought I had a Konjaku Monogatari, but when I found my Kojiki and couldn't find a Konjaku Monogatari I guessed that maybe I'd never bought it at all. Finally I found it in the box I had neglected for two years in my parents' garage (along with my anime sheet music).
For some reason I can no longer remember, I didn't buy the modern translation, but the version I did buy is reasonably well-footnoted and surprisingly readable*. My volume, however, only has the stories from India and China, so no Abe no Seimei for me. For now.
*It was written in the 12th century, so 'surprisingly readable' isn't in fact saying all that much.
