I have two interviews this week, one next, and two more I need to schedule. This is after months and months of everyone ignoring my resumé until I became convinced of my own unemployability. Is it that I'm graduating, finally?
In retrospect I'm kind of glad they waited because interviews on top of the master's paper would have broken my brain, but I'm a little confused, is all.

Well, while my luck's looking up, I may as well send my resumé along to the big urban libraries in places I'd really want to work, which generally do continuous recruitment.

Hello, sorry this has nothing to do with your post, but I was wondering if you would be interested in doing some translation work for a project that [livejournal.com profile] scorchy96 & I are working on. I'm not exactly sure how many participants we'll have, but we'd need you to translate about 5 sentences from each person, plus a roughly 1 page project description. We won't need the translations until June and you will be paid for all your work. If you're interested or, alternately, aren't interested but know of somebody who is as good at Japanese as you are that might be willing to do this, please send me an email (LEMONedSet@aol.com) and I can tell you more about the project, discuss payment, and answer any other questions you might have.

And just in case you're wondering how I found your journal, [livejournal.com profile] scorchy96 has seen you help out many people in the Japanese community (her included) and she was always very impressed with your replies and how helpful and knowledgeable you are.

The project we're organizing is a fanbook of sorts for a Japanese musician, hide. Well, technically the book is for his parents since he committed suicide in 1998, but basically the bulk of what we'll need you to translate will be 5-sentence messages from the participants that are either to hide, his parents, or some sort of general statement about themselves. I'll also need a 1 page project description to attach to the completed book. We're currently running this project off of a livejournal community which is located here (http://community.livejournal.com/project_hide/profile).

As far as payment goes, we were hoping to pay you a fixed rate for each translation; probably about $2 for each of the fan messages and maybe $10 for the project statement. We currently have 50+ members, though I'm not sure if every single person who joined the community will actually participate. I expect that we will have more people join over the next few weeks, but not a very large amount of people. But, assuming that everybody participates that would be $110 for translations. We could pay half of that upfront in a few weeks, maybe a little bit longer - we can pay by PayPal, check, or money order.

I don't know exactly when we'll start to receive the fan messages, but we wouldn't need the translations until June 18, so you would have a lot of time to work on them. Everything can be sent via-email.

Please let me know if this sounds ok to you.

Thanks, hope to hear from you soon.
