I really need to get it before I leave, because if I move somewhere where I need a car, it's going to be really, really complicated to buy a car and get a driver's license unless I have a license beforehand. So... wish me luck?
(Grumble, grumble. Because of mandatory insurance requirements--because I can't afford a couple hundred dollars a year for insurance on a car I don't have--the most I can get is a license that will only let me rent cars--and while I'm nearly old enough to get cars rented to me, they might be reluctant to rent a car to someone who hasn't been licensed for very long, so it's all going to be complicated anyway. Unless I get a job in NY.)
