Grades are trickling in, and seem fairly decent. We're working on a modified pass/fail system, anyway, so as long as I don't actually fail anything I'll try to be content with that.
Among the many good intentions I have for the new year is to try to get past this plateau I've run into with Spanish. I do OK with dubbed Buffy and Angel, but my Netflix turnaround has been very slow since I got cable; I haven't even been watching Telemundo lately. I finished my Pimsleur tapes a while ago, but I'm not ready for much beyond that--and I'm not sure that reading books will have much effect on my listening comprehension.
(It will have some. It is much easier for me to recognize a word in speech if I know that the word is a word, and I know what it means, so expanding my vocabulary can only be a good thing).
Right now I'm reading Carlos Ruiz Zafón's La Sombra del Viento, which is very good if you're me. It's out in English; it's very bibliophilic, and pushes my buttons, but I'm not sure whether it would push other peoples'. Also, I'm only 30-some pages in. I think I should start at least watching kids' shows on Telemundo again...and maybe get some more Spanish or Spanish-dubbed DVDs.
