I got my packet!
There are three stories: 冬の梅 by 芝木好子 had too much idiomatic politeness that I didn't feel up to deciphering, while the second, 飛行機が欠航になって、means "The flight is cancelled," and that just doesn't sound too interesting. 古井由吉's 椋鳥 (Starlings) opens with a tree covered in starlings hanging heavily from the branches; it's a good opening, with a nice sense of foreboding.
I haven't looked at the lit crit yet.
