Works in progress are "Such Deliberate Disguises," aka "The Fairy Booze Story" -- I always am much more entertained by my silly titles. SDD is pretentious, sure, but I'm not sure how marketable "The Fairy Booze Story" would be as a title; my 10-page paper on kamishibai as wartime ideological propaganda (among other things; there's no half-decent kamishibai history in English, so I'm putting in a good bit of that as well); and my 10-page paper on what Prof. Giles refers to as "gateway fantasy," that is, the kind of fantasy where you start out in the mundane world and then you find a gateway to a magicky world. 19,500 words on Fairy Booze. It's extremely slow going, and yet I'm satisfied with it thus far. Half a page on gateway fantasy. A page and a half on kamishibai, and that's the one I have to hustle on, because all my books are in Japanese and from Interlibrary Loan.

And I'm having my teeth pulled out on Friday. Whee!
