I hate quality-of-life rankings.

Okay, yeah, so I'm bitter from when I moved to Raleigh when Money Magazine said it was the best place to live in the country, and... yeah, it is, if you're the kind of person who cares what Money Magazine thinks. Do they not have quality-of-life rankings for poor people? The kind that rate whether housing is semi-affordable, and whether you can get by on public transportation, and all the other things you care about when you don't care about how many of your neighbors have Lexuses?

Wake County (where Raleigh is) is at #13 in another survey. And the criteria? Median income, median house prices, percentage of college grads. They say short commuting times and the availability of affordable housing are factors too... no... wait a second while I laugh about that. I never had a commute to school of less than 40 minutes, and the traffic was unbelievable. And if I had the choice, I would not make my primary criteria in choosing a place to live "where the rich people live."
