Back from several fun days in New York!

While there, I got a teishoku cookbook, and made shouga-yaki (pork sauteed with soy sauce and ginger) which turned out quite well, and cheap too.

But the best thing I got was this.

"Handmade Gothic and Lolita: 69 designs to make."

I think it's only 69 if you include ALL the barrettes and hairpieces and accessories, but it's still got a lot of stuff in it--a lot of cute stuff, too. About 80% of the blouse/skirt/shirt/dress patterns were things I'd wear, and some of them I'd even wear in public. ^_^ So I'm learning lots of Japanese sewing terminology, and despite the upcoming move, I, uh... bought a yard of black velvet for a T-shirt. It was on sale!

The patterns look mostly easy, but adding your own seam allowances is still kind of a pain. The best part is that the pattern sizes go up to an LL, which is approximately a 12 in US sizes... the fact that I'll have to add about ten inches to the bottom of every skirt nonwithstanding!

Oooh.

Lots of new names for me to try out... one must admit that L'Arc, X Japan, and Luna Sea is a bit of a narrow introduction to JRock.

I haven't tried searching the Japanese sites for tabs yet, but I'll do that...
