10/3/04 17:55I'm poor.
My mother sent me a check that's going to take three weeks to clear because it's international, and I'm down to the very dregs of my bank account--not so much that I'm flat broke, but if you've got any really cheap recipes, I would be thrilled to have them--I've got to keep lunch and dinner at about $1.75 each, Canadian.

Cheap food
10/3/04 21:11 (UTC)Some options?
Boca burgers-- $4.00 (all prices are US) for 4, plus bread as bun
Ramen, with chopped up hot dog, plus whatever veggies you have lying around (a bag of frozen veggies, with 4-5 servings, is about $2-$3
Frozen pizza-Here, they're 99 cents, I don't know about Montreal
Frozen shrimp ($4 for a box) plus frozen vegetables ($2) make like 4 meals of stir fry shrimp and vegetables
Pasta is always cheap (VERY, VERY cheap)-- use the meat flavored sauce, and it's like there's meat in there!
French toast-- it's just bread with a little milk and eggs!
Bagel-- They're $1.50 here, with cream cheese, or 60 cents plain
Yogurt-- it's always good, and reasonably cheap... Buy it on sale and it's about 60 cents a serving
TACOS! Buy a taco kit, seal everything up in ziploc, and you can have tacos for a week! $4.00 for the taco kit, about $4.00 for meat/lettuce/tomatoes, I guess another $4.00 for cheese if you want it-- and that's like 6 meals for $12!
I try to keep my at-home meals at under $1 US (I usually can, surprisingly enough). Boca burgers are a recent, convenient, indulgence. The cheeseburger flavor is sooo good...
OOOH! Beans! Nothing's cheaper than beans!
Use them wherever you can!
that's all I can think of right now...
