Bad commute day
28/8/13 09:39Half the roads are being resurfaced. Which meant that I had to take a detour in one part, and had to ride on really rough roads in another part. (I will be grateful for this next week, I'm sure.)
One guy blared his horn for so long that I felt compelled to respond, "I AM RIDING LEGALLY AND FOLLOWING ALL RULES OF THE ROAD." Another guy leaned out his car and started yelling at me for I don't know what reason. I couldn't even hear him.
Someone turned left in front of me so closely that I was very, very lucky I managed to stop in time. I think in the future I will just have to anticipate that no car going in the opposite direction from me will ever (a) see me (b) realize they have to yield when turning left.
My pants leg came unrolled and nearly got caught in my chain.
Not a great time.

28/8/13 14:45 (UTC)But I had a really good ride to Marine Park on Sunday, and I'm actually quite excited about the prospect of taking longer rides as I get a little better at hills, so... we'll see!

30/8/13 18:18 (UTC)It may be possible to get an aftermarket chain guard put on. If you have a derailleur, it will cost money, but can still be done; let me know if you'd like more information.
(I'm trying REALLY HARD not to be all advice all the time on the biking stuff. Ha.)
Someone informed me that I wasn't a car the other day (I was making a left turn and blocking the lane because anyone making a left turn would have had to do that...). It's not exactly helpful.... :(
