Mother Nature officially approves of me seeing outdoor theater.

The last time I went to Shakespeare in the Park was Anne Hathaway in Twelfth Night in 2009. It had been raining all week. (When they sang "And the rain it raineth every day" it got a lot of laughs.) In the late afternoon, it was thunderstorming in short bursts, but just in time the sky cleared up and it turned beautiful and we got a RAINBOW.

Fantastic play.

Last night, when we were trying to see "Into the Woods," it started raining hard right around 7:30. We took shelter and milled around and I compulsively tried to check the radar on my phone. But then it cleared up, and they let us in, and someone gave us a paper towel to wipe off our seats.

Anyway, so, the reviews may not have been great but I, at least, loved it. It's Sondheim, the songs are good, I'm not asking for too much more than that. (I also thought it was neat that the performance had sign language interpretation!)

Just as my sister and I got off the train around 1:00, the skies absolutely burst open and we got a torrential soaking rain and I ended up going to sleep in wet pants. I don't even care. I'm just glad it waited that long!

I saw it last week and I liked it a lot too! I thought Donna Murphy as the Witch and the staging of the giant were particularly fabulous. The only casting I disliked was the Baker.
