3/1/12 21:11It's January and the writers are all suggesting things that one might nominate for a Hugo. If I had a WorldCon membership, I can tell you what I would nominate: The Man Who Bridged The Mist, by Kij Johnson.
It has an attention to craftsmanship and hard work that reminds me of Miyazaki, and the relationship at the core of the story turns out not the way I expected in a way that makes me happy both as a reader and as a feminist, and it explores culture clashes and culture change in a way that I felt was fair and complex. Also the writing is really good.
