Friday I was reading a magazine in the staff room when I suddenly said to myself, "Self! Why are you reading a magazine that recommends you buy an $80 elbow pillow? Five minutes ago you didn't even know there was such a thing as an elbow pillow!"
I'm pretty modest about my resolutions. Last year I said I was going to make more bad decisions, but this year turned out great so I don't know if that goes in the 'win' column or not. But here is my resolution: I'm going to severely cut down my aspirational reading. Domino and Martha Stewart of course (I only read them when I've run out of lunchtime reading material, but I do read them), but also Engadget and Curbed and -- okay, Brownstoner is actually pretty useful -- and Macrumors... even if I can count on Macrumors not to tell me that I should buy an $80 elbow pillow. And I don't really read Cosmo except to laugh at it, but Cosmo too.
