19/5/08 21:31So I did the AidsWalk on Sunday, and I was all proud of myself for walking six miles (which is a LOT for me), though I don't know if I would do that again-- first, I'm really not big on team spirit. On spirit day, at my high school--I wore black. Matching my pace to the rest of my team, and holding up the big sign, it's not something I really want to do. Also, I'm not big on crowds. 45,000 people is way too many people. And I might be a bit skeptical about the [athletic endurance event] for charity thing--when people do fic or vids for a good cause on livejournal, that makes sense, because you donate some money and you get some fic. If someone donates money and you walk, well... it's walking. I'm not sure who gets a benefit from that besides the person who's walking.
But, anyway, it was kind of fun. And afterwards there was Rock Band and Thai food.

Starting midnight (or more realistically, starting tomorrow morning) I will be participating in the Young Adult Vampire Novel Contest. And, yes, posting the results on Livejournal; haven't decided yet whether to post in chunks or wait until Monday.
I am not trying to write something good. I am trying to write something for the heck of it, as I haven't done in too long. My purpose here is to write, not exactly a satire of the Twilight books, but a response to them: how would the plot have gone differently if it somehow respected female characters' agency and intelligence, respected other kinds of love than deathless romantic passion. And also if everybody was in a BAND.
