Fortunately we are coming up on a weekend.

I couldn't bear to call in sick on my second day at work - and don't have any sick leave yet anyway - so I decided that I would tough it out even though I am feeling lousy. (And, no, I don't approve of spreading my germs around to the rest of the library, so normally I would be smart enough to stay home, but - not this time). A week of orientation and subways and generally coming into contact with way too many people has not been good to me.

An 80-minute commute is Teh Suck. I have to find a new place to live.

(1) The view of Manhattan lit up at night, going across the bridge from Brooklyn to Queens

(2) People-watching at the Lorimer/Metropolitan Ave. bus stop; the people-watching is good everywhere in New York, but Williamsburg has its share of people who are either pretty or hilarious.

(3) The Canarsie-bound L train is deserted in the morning, guaranteeing me a seat and nice uninterrupted stretch of reading time.
