1) Everything's better with zombies. (See also: icon).

2) I am totally jealous of everyone who's in Japan for Worldcon right now. Even though if I were going to Japan I wouldn't want to spend the time at a science fiction convention, and even though no one really wants to be in Japan in August. (Admittedly, I never found it much worse than Raleigh, except that it's not as easy to surround yourself constantly with air conditioning). After I deplete my new-car fund I think I may start saving up to go to Japan. Then again, after I deplete my new-car fund I will probably need to start on another new-car fund.

3) Worldcon 2009 is going to be in Montreal, I hear. Will I be there? Well-- my passport will have expired, I think, and registration's kind of expensive, especially if you don't read enough of the Hugo-contending novels to vote in good conscience. But I will take any excuse to go to Montreal, and perhaps Little Sister will let me crash at the apartment.

4) I am doing the "But I can spend money if I want to!!!!!!" thing. I probably shouldn't order my weight in books from bk1. It is hard to convince myself of this.

5) The security badge scanner at the library has not been working for a full week and a half. The people who can deal with this are not here--they have good reasons for not being here--but it means that I have to call the security office any time I want to get in and out, outside of the library's official opening times. This would be a minor annoyance, but isn't this hilarious? I locked my purse and cell phone inside the library, excepting only a debit card which I left in a pants pocket. This could be a problem on Tuesday--I will need to find another phone to use...
