My sister's been in town for the past couple days, so I went over to mom's place with a baking book I had checked out of the library just to look at.
Hadn't planned on baking--but when we got around to "What do you want to do?" "I dunno, what do you want to do?" it seemed to be the logical option. We made mini carrot spice muffins with coconut, walnuts, raisins, cinnamon, ginger, and shredded carrots. Yum!
My other option was to go to Borders to look for the new Rachel Cohn/David Levithan book, because David Levithan almost always makes me happy. Alas! When I went this morning, they didn't have it, even though it was supposed to have been released already, even though Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist got such an amount of (well-deserved) hype. They have it on order-- I know that book distributors just don't concern themselves as much as YA lit unless it's a massively hyped release like Harry Potter or Eclipse.
The repair costs for the van are going to be almost what the van is worth, so I'm hoping that they'll total it, or at least let us take a check for the amount of damage and use that towards a new car. I don't really know how these insurance things work. I may have to get in touch with the state employees credit union; BoA won't let you finance less than $7500 for some reason, and I'm hoping to take out a much smaller loan than that. (Although, could I take out a larger loan, and just make my first payment really big? Hmm.)
