My car was stolen.

What can I say? Thank goodness I'm 25 and can now rent a car. Thank goodness my taxi took me to the library on time so that I could open up the library. Thank goodness that I'd rather have an insurance check for the value of the car, than the car itself (though I know it won't necessarily work out that way).

But, ah. This is one of those situations where it's not so easy to find a silver lining.

I'm doing much better.

We have, as it happens, an excess car. Littlest Sister is up getting herself installed at McGill right now, and of course she is not bringing her Evilmobile with her. Not that I want to drive the Evilmobile, mind you, but it's something to get me through for a little while. (There are problems of logistics, but I could probably pick the car up on Sunday, so it's not that long.)

And I have a very nice rented car, which the insurance is paying for in part.

Either it's a joyride, which is okay, or it's a nice excuse to get a new car, which is also okay.

...The police officer found one of the minivan seats in the parking lot. Is that not bizarre? Also, a motorcycle was stolen from the same parking lot the same night. Is that not even more bizarre? Did they take one of the seats out in an attempt to get the motorcycle in the minivan? Today has just been an all-around surreal experience, culminating in 30 minutes of sitting in the dark in the library because a huge rainstorm knocked the power out.
