29/8/05 19:38I've just realized something odd.
I'm sufficiently used to watching subtitled DVDs in languages I know glancingly or fairly well, for language practice, that when I watch a DVD in a language I don't speak at all, it's very disconcerting, and I keep trying to make out the words.
And to think I used to make fun of all those people who wouldn't watch subtitled movies...
(Which brings to mind a tale of Suburban North Carolina: the sign at the movie theater said, roughly, "It's a Chinese movie, and it's Chinese all the way through, so don't come asking for a refund." Which is really funny).
