Hard luck day
22/8/05 11:19I actually rather like Mondays--in my current work schedule, at any rate. After two weekend days of being limited in what I can do because the buses are either running on a very reduced schedule or not at all, I get a non-work day of limitless possibility. If limitless possibility means that I can go as far as the mall if I feel like it.
Today, though, as I was going to catch the bus to campus so that I could check my e-mail, I stepped in a hole, skidded on some wet grass, and twisted my ankle something awful. After which I limped to the bus, got to school, checked my e-mail, called the student health service to see if they were open yet--a reflection of my priorities--only to find out that I have to pay to get health care during the summer semester, which doesn't end for three more days. Deciding that they wouldn't do anything for me I couldn't do myself with leftover painkillers and a bag of frozen peas, I limped home. Only to find that my keys had fallen out of my pocket, either when I fell, or when I was resting on campus with my feet up between bursts of limping.
Well, I've got a new apartment key now, and the only other key on there was a bike key I've got a replacement for. So that much is all right. I have internet at home again, huzzah!, and I suppose there's no harm in sitting for a little while with my feet up, playing video games.
It's just that I had so much hope for the day... errands, possibilities, sewing that absolutely needs to get done (and can't just yet because I'm out of thread). Groceries. Why can I not be slightly less of a klutz?
