...Wait. You mean my 3-year old computer doesn't have enough memory to have two dozen web browser tabs open, Mail, iTunes, BitTorrent, 2 different text editors plus OpenOffice with one and a half novel drafts open, a DVD player, and half a dozen little helper applications? UNPOSSIBLE.

Ah. And I thought that it was OpenOffice making all the difference, because it's trying to emulate the memory hog that is MS Word, but it turns out to be Firefox taking up an astonishing 500 MB of RAM. Time to download Chrome!

I use both Chrome and Firefox, because some sites just don't load properly in Firefox. I checked this morning and there's an adblock extension now for the Mac version, thank god, which there wasn't when I originally downloaded it. I'm giving Chrome a week-long trial to see what happens.

I've been using Chrome on my Linux netbook, and I like it a lot, but unfortunately both Firefox and Chrome have weird text input bugs (not sure if it's a memory issue or a Linux issue or a web browser issue or some weird combination) -- Chrome is definitely speedier, but I hadn't stopped to consider that my desktop doesn't actually have more memory than my netbook.
