Upon discovering that my Rose of Versailles manga are still in Montreal I made a run to Book-Off and emerged with no less than:

The last two bunko of Koori no Mamono no Monogatari (\o/ \o/ \o/ -- I had been searching for these for the longest and haven't been able to easily order them since the publisher doesn't have great distribution);

The last two bunko of Rose of Versailles, which is quite satisfactory since I wouldn't rebuy all of them and I at least have text translations for most of the first half of the series;

Hagio Moto's A, A'

Cheers to Book-Off for actually having a selection of bunko -- Kinokuniya hasn't since they moved locations, which makes it that much harder for an old-school manga fangirl.

Bunko? I thought that was a card game.

Bunko is Japanese meaning pocket-sized books -- slightly smaller than an American mass-market paperback. A lot of classic older manga are only available that way (which doesn't really make sense, because the target audience is middle-aged folks with aging eyes, but that's how it is).

I envy you your Kohri bunko, sort of. I'm still hoping to get the regular tanks of 18-24 next time in NY, which I foolishly neglected to buy last November.

OTOH cataract surgery might make bunko a feasible proposition.

I just realized I have the tank of #21, if you end up with some holes in what you can find. (Sure enough, the last one published while I was still in Japan. I don't think I managed to collect a lot of the volumes, but I'm still kind of vexed at having to abandon the series that close to the end).
