The bad news: I paid my taxes!
Self-employment is brutal. I am not opposed to taxes. I am not even opposed to higher taxes. I'm pretty darn well opposed to paying more taxes than GE, though. I am opposed to the fact that politicians yell about entrepreneurship to sell their pro-business policies, and yet it's the entrepreneurs -- and even worse, people with full-time jobs who are employed as "contractors" so they get to pay self-employment tax for the awesome privilege of having no health insurance and no job security, without being burdened by the freedom to work in one's pyjamas -- who get hit with taxes while enormous corporations don't.
