After waking up and having the first thought in my head be, "If I don't have hot water I'm going to resort to violence," it is a bit shocking and entirely delightful to find a book trailer for A Love Story Starring My Dead Best Friend.

(I don't have hot water, as it happens, but I have warm water sufficient for a very brief shower).

Julia? You remember when we promised each other that we'd be each other's maids of honor? You remember when you told me that I would fall in love someday and I would love it and I would hate it and I'd eventually feel like punching someone in the face over it? You remember when someone made some stupid comment about me being gay, and you grinned and laughed it off as if-- as if it wasn't an insult to think that we might be girlfriends, you and me?

I generally liked that!

I've not watched a lot of booktrailers. The ones I've seen have all been still images. I like that they didn't just use still images, but acted out scenes.

The most impressive trailer I have seen is for Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan, but that's the kind of thing that doesn't happen unless you have the entire promotion budget of Simon & Schuster behind you.

I don't mind still image trailers but really dislike ones pieced together out of obvious stock photography. No one says you have to put something up on YouTube just because.
