Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the original title something like Travels with My Dead Best Friend & they didn't like the Dead Best Friend part?

Yes, actually! That was how I submitted it to my agent, and she talked me into changing it, and I had mixed feelings about that because it was a Sensitive Book About Feelings, but I got all attached to Totally Sweet, and then the marketing people wanted to change it because it is a Sensitive Book About Feelings. So all along it's been between going with the cute snappy title and going with the title that actually describes the book, and probably they made the right decision.
