It occurs to me that I've just been venting rage in my LJ instead of providing actual information, so:

I was supposed to get surgery on Feb. 16th. Dr. Hand [not his actual name] stopped me, out of the blue, to suggest that maybe I had something wrong with my parathyroid causing my bones to break, rather than a benign tumor that needed surgery.

(This is because of two bones I broke in 2005. #1, I took a bad turn on my bike on a downhill slope, flung my hand out when I went down, and ended up breaking my elbow. #2, I was running to catch a bus and stepped in a gopher hole. Both of these read to me as 'A person could plausibly break a bone that way, even without having osteoporosis.' But I was willing to go along with it.)

I attempted to get my parathyroid checked up on. A string of endocrinologists didn't have any open appointment spots for a month; I went to a very nice and competent GP who neglected to tell me that she couldn't test my parathyroid because her office didn't send out frozen samples; the 16th came and went.

My further complication is that I really don't have sick days to spare. I have exactly enough sick time and comp time to get through the 3 weeks that I'm going to be off work after surgery. So doctor's appointments are difficult.

This morning I got up at 6 to go in to the lab and have my blood drawn again. Fingers crossed that they get the result they need this time.
