owlectomyI had a training for work this morning in Brooklyn Heights, so I had to leave the house by 9:00. However, as jetlagged and sleep-deprived as I was, I fell into bed at night without setting my alarm and just slept and slept and slept.
I woke up to someone ringing my doorbell. And ringing! And ringing! And ringing!
I ignored the ringing until it went away, then glanced at my clock.
8:58.
I took five minutes to put on some clothes and run a brush through my hair and sprinted out the door, pausing briefly to pick up the big envelope that had been left outside my door. "Huh," I said. "I got something from Penguin. It feels book-shaped."
I jogged down to the subway while opening the envelope.
And I pulled out a book that is mine.
Eeee!
