1/4/13 12:45So, this is a terrible story. And most of my career has been spent doing customer service so under most circumstances I really try to be nice to people doing retail and food service, even when I'm particularly frustrated.
But I was at Lane Bryant a couple of years ago, and the salesperson there was so aggressive trying to get me signed up for their credit card or something, and I was like "I don't even shop here that often because you don't have tall pants in store,"* and the clerk said "Yes but you can mail-order," and I said, "Well that's a huge hassle, and if I wanted to mail-order I would mail-order from somewhere that has properly hemmed pants that are made out of something that isn't polyester," and she said "But you can still wear our shirts, though," and I said "But they are TERRIBLE."
It was not a nice thing to say but it was the truth.
WTF Plus contains ALL MY FEELINGS.
*I used to be very sad that, as far as I am aware, there is nowhere in Manhattan -- the shopping capital of the US! -- that sells pants in my size. However, I can no longer envy skinnier people in this respect, because suddenly all the chain clothing stores have stopped stocking tall pants in straight sizes. WTF? It's not like all the tall people suddenly disappeared or something.
