I have been sick for all this weekend -- not badly, but enough so that I haven't really had the energy to do the nine thousand things that I need to get done. So the Plan deteriorated to watching old Star Trek episodes on Netflix while knitting. Two problems:

1) The first season of Star Trek: TNG is really quite bad. The part where Wesley gets to be Teen Supergenius in way too many episodes? The episodes that were super heavy on the whole morality play thing? (And, you know, I like Doctor Who, so I have a pretty high tolerance for morality-play science fiction.) The fact that almost nobody has any character development beyond making speeches about right and wrong? I am sure that it gets better, both because everybody says so and because I liked it when I was a kid, but I sure hope it happens soon.

2) This knitting pattern which I downloaded (and paid money for) is really not that clear. I made bobbles for the first time, which turn out to be very annoying (I know they're rarely attractive, but I liked this particular pattern), and the instructions for that weren't very good, but even more than that it's not too clear how you're supposed to work the charts. I'm an experienced enough knitter that I managed to compensate, but an inexperienced enough one that I'm still wondering if I've been doing it wrong. And if you do a pattern which is full of cables and bobbles, on sock yarn and small needles, and are trying to get it done so that it can get to France in early January (Christmas is a lost cause...) -- well, it tends to be a little bit hard on your hands, and elbows, and all your tendons anywhere in your upper body.
